What happens when you connect winemaking with horse manure? Well, this interview! Chuck Klimek is a home wine grape grower and winemaker in Franksville, Wisconsin. Conveniently he lives just about a mile from my home, and I happen to live on a horse ranch. Chuck has been using much of our manure (which does tend to stack up) for use at for his property, where he and his wife grow all kinds of tasty fruit and vegetables. And that is how we met. It’s worth noting that Chuck is the first home winegrower we have interviewed and if there is one word common to many of our podcasts, it is passion.

You can also hear Chuck on our Vino Lingo segment defining the term “Top Wire Cordon.”

Excellent interview with an amateur grape grower and winemaker in the Midwest, which are both unique challenges!
