Spending time with Winemaker Nick Goldschmidt is quite simply, fascinating. Vineyards and winemaking really go beyond passion for Nick. His knowledge is deep but he always explains his views on wine in easy to understand terms. Every conversation is a wine education filled with lots of laughs. I thank Nick for this interview as he had just arrived from Chile the night before and took the time to meet up with me at his office in Healdsburg. Cheers, Nick!

Two years ago, Podcast #305, featured
Nick Goldschmidt of Goldschmidt Vineyards in Sonoma. This week,
almost two years to the date, we caught up with his son Luke
Goldschmidt who is a cellar hand working his way through the
industry. In fact as a message to our listeners who are winemakers,
Luke is looking for an enologist job. If you are interested, Luke’s
email address appears below. Meanwhile, we had a great chat talking
about his time working in cellars all over the world. Wine is
family. It’s also travel as well.
You can hear Luke on our Vino Lingo
segment defining the term “la bota”.
Behind the Mic. We are celebrating 12

Winery Owner, Winemaker, Inventor,
Consultant, Engineer. Nick Goldschmidt is the very definition of the
kind of wine guy you want to hang out with. Nick makes wine in all
corners of the world. He started very small and grew success with
just as much intelligence as he has grown wine. The dude is a smart
guy. Nick visited Milwaukee and the LBTV studio last week and we
were lucky to get a couple hours of his time on mic, on camera and on
wine.
