Welcome to this special podcast! As some of you might know, I released a book aptly titled, “Vino Lingo”, wine words defined by the winemakers themselves. The book contained original photos of each of these winemakers in the spirit of the Vino Lingo words. The following audio stands as my ‘audio book’ of the project featuring the voices of each of the winemakers. This is part two. Its fun. Maybe silly. But definitely educational. Please enjoy. And watch for my next book, Vino Lingo Part Two.

MILWAUKEE, WI – Dec. 21, 2022 – In a new book, “Vino Lingo”, wine writer Ray Fister takes readers on a journey through wine country and the terminology that makes the industry so unique. Each page in the book will feature a different winemaker from around the world and their corresponding favorite wine-specific jargon, as well as a personal account or story about what the word or phrase means in the world of wine.
Fister hosts a popular weekly podcast “Life Between the Vines”. Throughout the podcast’s 14- year stint, Fister has interviewed more than 1,200 winery owners, winemakers and industry professionals. Drawing from these experiences, “Vino Lingo” is a compilation of interviews and insight from winemakers and wine lovers alike that captures the passion and playfulness involved in wine production.
“Ray Fister is a pioneer in his field, producing popular podcast ‘Life Between the Vines’ since 2008,” said David Ramey, owner of Ramey Wine Cellars in Sonoma County, California. “Aiming to make wine accessible and fun for those who appreciate it, Ray gently goads winemakers into sharing their goals and methods, their aspirations and fears — always with humor and appreciation.”
Midwest native and world traveler, Fister currently resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He boasts an extensive background in audio production and commercial recording and is a contributor to Milwaukee’s NPR station, WUWM 89.7 FM, Lake Effect. Fister has been featured in interviews with Wine Industry Network, JCB Live, Milwaukee Business Journal and Auction Napa Valley.
“Not only do winemakers tell the best stories, but they’re also the go-to folks on definitions of the common and not-so common insider wine terms,” says Fister. “Over the course of 14 years, we’ve had hundreds of winemakers give us their favorite ‘vino lingo-isms’.”
