About

We’re doing our part to make wine less scary. Ever gone into a restaurant and feel embarrassed about ordering the cheapest wine on the list? Spend more than you want to on a bottle just to impress the server? And what the heck do you do with the cork? Have you thought about going to wine country, but have no clue where to start, or stop? We feel your pain. Our goal with Life Between The Vines is to educate and entertain using interviews with winery owners, wine makers and wine lovers of all kinds – not 100 point rating scales. We also want to help promote wines made by friends we’ve met on our trips to Napa, Sonoma, Willamette Valley, Italy and many other places we’ll be visiting.  We believe wine can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. Whether you’re a wine intellectual or wine novice, we think Life Between The Vines has something fun and interesting to offer. We promise you won’t be intimidated.

We have been producing this program for over 11 years as an audio podcast as well as featured videos on our YouTube channel.   Ray Fister is the wine contributor to NPR-Milwaukee’s WUWM Lake Effect program.  Ray is also a professional audio engineer and has recorded over 600 interviews with winery owners, winemakers and wine industry professionals.
