Craig Becker, Co-Founder, GM and Director of Winemaking visited the LBTV studios in
April while on the road promoting the Somerston and Priest Ranch brands.
During the interview Craig talked about the engineering that goes into planting
new vines, as well as the vineyard management employed, long before the juice
becomes wine. This detail is fascinating so listen close and you’ll get a clearer
picture on the what it takes to produce great wine. Cheers!

Finding the right name. Purchasing the finest grapes. Hiring the best winemaker.
Its all part of the dream of owning your very own wine label. This interview celebrates the
birth of that very dream. Kurt-Inge Eklund began his new wine journey with the excellent
2013 vintage and the name Shutter Wine. As Kurt-Inge is a professional photographer, Shutter seemed to be the obvious choice, and wine was the obvious direction. We met with Kurt-Inge on top
of Soda Canyon road in February of this year.

A common term found in the winery business….family. Vintners start the business and
often hope to see their children join the business to keep it in the family….and many times what comes with that are the people that help run the winery.Vineyard workers, cellar rats, tasting room managers…and winemakers.
Bryan Kays is the Winemaker at Trefethen Family Vineyards, located in the Oak Knoll District
of Napa Valley. Working for the winery for ten years, Bryan has seen all angles of the business
and like many winemakers, he has a good story to tell. Bryan was in Milwaukee for a winemakers dinner at Eddie Martini’s restaurant in early March and he stopped by the LBTV studios to tell
a few of those stories.
