The wine industry relies heavily on equipment and supplies designed to create some fantastic vintages. Pumps, fork lifts, corks, capsules, barrels, optical sorters, the list goes on. Life Between the Vines was invited to the WIN Expo 2019 for the first time. WIN is Wine Industry Network and the expo was a trade show as well as wine seminars. It’s not surprising that wine lovers often become winemakers. Sometimes it’s just inevitable. One of the bigger challenges in starting a label is coming up with the name. Winelover and winemaker and owner David Ulbricht gave his winery one of the most unique names we’ve heard. SchöneTal Cellars. For our readers the name is pronounced SCH.U.NA.TAL. That’s how it appears on the website. We originally met David in 2018 at the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir Auction and now we catch up with him at his shared tasting room in McMinnville. It’s a bit noisy in the background, as usual this is a working winery, but our chat with Dave shows how a nice guy can finish first.
You can also hear Dave on our Vino Lingo segment defining his own wine term “Pretty, Pretty”.
