Wine education should be fun. You
swirl, you sniff, you taste and you smile. Stephen Webber, Winemaker
at Montinore Estate in the Willamette Valley likes to keep things
uncomplicated. Stephen hails from England, the home of many fine
wine lovers. He made wine in Australia and Alsace, which proved to
be a great influence on his road to Montinore. We spoke with Stephen
via phone a couple weeks ago and I found him to be a real pleasure to
chat with. Wine should be fun and it should be serious…but not too
serious.

What would make you leave the film
industry to enter the world of wine? Passion, what else? Jake Gray,
General Manager at L’Angolo Estate in the Willamette Valley goes back
to day one of the winery operation. Jake is ironically from Davis,
California, and UC Davis is well known for producing top winemakers.
So why the career change? Those who get it, answer the call. We met
with Jake at the tasting room a few weeks ago enjoying the morning
sun while we talked about our common favorite subject, wine.
