Our last visit with Stoller Wine Group’s Melissa Burr was back in March of 2018. Needless to say we were well overdue to catch up with this extraordinary winemaker. Melissa’s new title is Founding Winemaker and after 20 years with Stoller she has grown along way with this Oregon winery . I caught up with Melissa a few weeks ago to see what’s new at this exceptional wine group. A lot has changed in 6 years!
Ken Nerlove and his daughter Elise are owners of Elkhorn Peak Cellars and in 2023 they’ve made the leap to add Cabernet Sauvignon to their portfolio. This really is a big deal. Ken has been growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay since the 80’s and Cab presents its own special challenges. This family partnership between father and daughter is what Napa Valley wines were built on. Elkhorn Peak is a very special place and watching this family grow, is really something to see.

The Wine Foundry is custom winemaking facility located at the southern end of Napa proper. Kale Anderson makes wine there under his own label Kale Wines, as well as a new project called Parable. He also operates as a Consulting Winemaker for several other labels. We met up with Kale at The Wine Foundry just as the day was winding down and harvest was finally in the rear view mirror.
