More than 300 wineries and 5 AVAs can be found in the great state of Ohio. Northeast Ohio, just outside of Cleveland, produces several grape varieties but Pinot Noir commands the most attention. Award winning Pinot Noir in fact. I visited Tracy Hundley, Owner and Co-Winemaker at Hundley Cellars in Harpersfield just a few weeks ago. Hundley is a classic family owned winery keeping to a great tradition of making wine from local grapes. There is nothing better than a wine visit to this part of Ohio.

Life Between the Vines is now, thirteen years old. We began production in 2008 and 1200 interviews later, I look back at our history with a huge smile. The last few weeks we’ve been running Select Winemaker stories from past programs and our listeners have let us know they enjoyed the format. This program is even more special as the opening track features Volker Eisele of Volker Eisele Family Estate in the Chiles Valley AVA of Napa Valley. It was a great honor to interview Volker back in October of 2011. He passed in 2015 and I remember what a special day it was recording him. Please, enjoy.
