Livermore Valley is a welcoming and yet close community, just to the east of San Francisco. By close I mean every winemaker seems to know each other and they show a great deal of respect for with wines they make by drinking each others wines. Wineries are just about a 15 minute drive apart which is nice for visitors. For this podcast I met up with Mark Clarin, Winemaker at McGrail Vineyards & Winery. Mark is a musician as well as winemaker and very comfortable in each role. That’s because it’s passion, plain and simple.

Niki Wente is 5^th Generation Winegrower in Livermore Valley and part of a family that made history in the industry. The Wente Clone is just one part of their claim to fame. The fact that the family has operated the winery for so long shows the power of family in wine. I visited Niki at the winery a few weeks ago and learned how her dedication to the Wente team is all about passion. And the family continues to grow.
