Vino Video – Sarah Vandendriessche, Winemaker, Elizabeth Spencer, Napa Valley

February 20, 2023by Ray FisterNo Comments

The joy in her voice reflects the joy in her love of winemaking. Sarah Vandendriessche has been Winemaker at Elizabeth-Spencer in Napa Valley for over a dozen years. Working with fruit from all over wine country has been a thrill for Sarah, as much as for those of us who love the wine. Elizabeth Spencer is now owned by Jean-Charles Boisset which means in terms of vineyard sourcing, this is only the beginning.

Vino Video – Ryan Rech, Winemaker, Beringer Vineyards, Napa Valley

February 13, 2023by Ray FisterNo Comments

The history of winemaking in Napa Valley goes back further than most people realize. The mid to late 1800’s created America’s wine country. Beringer Vineyards roots can be traced back to 1879 and in fact is the longest continually operating winery in California. Ryan Rech is Head Winemaker at Beringer and is well aware of the history his wine represents. I met up with Ryan for a chat at the historic Rhine House on the Beringer property last December. If these walls could talk….

Vino Video – John Skupny & Reed Skupny, Lang & Reed, Napa Valley

February 9, 2023by Ray FisterNo Comments

To say its been a long time since I’ve sat down with John Skupny for a full length interview, would be an understatement. I interviewed John for Podcast #32 back in April of 2011. To be clear, I’ve recorded John many times at Premiere Napa Valley among other industry events. But this time, we are joined by his son Reed. Lots of laughing and good fun made this father and son team a great podcast.

You can hear John on our Vino Lingo segment defining the term “Vin de L’Annee”.

You can also hear Reed defining the term “Quaffable”
