Vino Video: Todd Graff of Frank Family Vineyards (Podcast #195)

August 7, 2016by Ray FisterNo Comments

It’s amazing to find just how many Napa Valley wineries date back over
one hundred years. Few realize how big the wine industry was growing in those
days. History surrounds Frank Family Vineyards winery which is on the National Register of Historical places. But far more important is the high quality wine produced at Frank. Todd Graff has made wine around the world and has been Winemaker and GM at Frank Family since 2003. We caught up with Todd back in June at the winery to laugh as well as talk shop.

Most people are surprised to find Ohio has been a major wine grape producer dating way back to the early 1800’s. Many areas around the state grow wine grapes but the Grand River Valley, located in northeast Ohio, is one of the most popular for wine and high end wineries. Over the 4th of July weekend we visited Matt Meineke of M Cellars in Geneva, Ohio. Matt and his family have been been operating the winery since 2012 and have made some very impressive wine. The goal is all estate wines….and the future looks bright.

goes back a good long way…and the Stony Hill story like so many wineries, starts with family.
Sarah McCrea who’s family started the vineyard, met with us at the tasting room during Auction Napa Valley week in June. The view from the mountain was fantastic and the wine was pretty fantastic too.
