How does a Winemaker become a Winemaker? The starts with that special glass. Or family. Or maybe a calling. For this podcast we spoke with nine winemakers from all over the US and let them tell you, their story.
Winemakers interviewed for this podcast are:
-John Terlaro/Principal, Terlato Wines, Chicago
-Katy Wilson/Winemaker, Sonoma
-Reilly Keenan/Assistant Winemaker, Keenan Family Winery, Napa Valley
-Dan Warnshuis/Owner & Winemaker Utopia Vineyard, Willamette Valley, Oregon
These are just a few of the terms we
call Vino Lingo: Wine words defined by the winemakers themselves.
We’ve now introduced Vino Lingo Video to our podcast which will run
every Thursday. For this podcast, we’ve compiled some of these
common…and not so common terms used by winemakers. Listen and
you’ll likely get a wine education and hopefully a laugh to boot.
Enjoy!

With us, it’s almost always about
family, and in this program its about the Terlato family. John
Terlato is one of the family members that operates Terlato Wines in
Lake Bluff, Illinois. The company is run from the former Armour
mansion where they oversee several wineries. We had interviewed
John’s father Tony back in our early days, in fact Podcast #14 in
2010 and Podcast #102 from November 2013. John takes a hands-on
approach to winery ownership and it shows in the bottle. So listen
while we chat about Sanford, Chimney Rock, Rutherford Hill and much
more.

Lingo segment defining the wine term “Delicious”
