From commercial pilot to winemaker. Not a very typical career change. Ronda Wood, Owner & Winemaker at Wood Family Vineyards has lived a full life and there is lots more ahead of her. She still flys, but winemaking is the soul of her family. As we near the end of our 2024 tour of Livermore Valley wineries, Rhonda was so much fun to talk to. Forgive me for spending so much time on flying. I am, after all, a boy at heart.

People often ask why I produce this podcast and after 16 years I tell them its all about the people. Noah Taylor is a great example. Noah was great fun to talk to with and he had some excellent stories as well as amazing history. Frank and down to earth you can see how his mother had a huge influence on him. I met Noah at Retzlaff Vineyards back in June and I could have easily sat there all day. After all, it is all about wine.

As Winemaker and Owner of one of the newer wineries in Livermore Valley, Jennifer Sahara is taking her time to learn the craft and art of winemaking. As a woman of engineering and science she has great respect for the process, as well as the education that goes with it. I met up with Jennifer and her four legged friend at the tasting room, which will be open to the public in the not too distant future. Engineering meets fermentation, what’s not to like?
