A small production winery is all about focus. When you make a few hundred cases, they are your babies. That’s not to say larger wineries don’t feel the same, but in this case you get to know just about every bottle. Steve Autry makes wine under his name in the Edna Valley just shy of the San Luis Obispo airport. You may notice that during the interview. I spent some time with Steve and his two very handsome winery cats in the peace and quiet of the valley.
Listen to Steve on our Vino Lingo segment give his definition of the word “Fining”.

The Paso Robles area of California is an incredibly diverse grape growing segment of wine country. You can find just about any wine you’d like to drink including Rhone varietals. Fulldraw Vineyard is located in the Templeton Gap AVA and owned by Connor McMahon. Several wineries can be found surrounding Fulldraw making it a fun place to visit. We caught up with Connor just after harvest in October and got a brief glimpse into growing a winery while growing a family.
You can hear Connor on our Vino Lingo segment defining the term “Punchdown”.

It’s amazing to me just how many excellent wine growing areas there are in the state of California. When is the last time you’ve tasted wines from the Sierra Foothills? Mark Henry makes Montoliva in the Chicago Park area of the North Sierra Foothills. Italian varietals from northern California, you bet! Remember, the journey is always worth it.
You can hear Mark on our Vino Lingo segment defining the term “Rustic”.
